King & MacGregor Environmental, Inc. (KME) assessed Commonwealth Power Company's various hydroelectric facilities located throughout mid-Michigan for the potential to increase the quantity and diversity of wildlife species that utilize the project lands. Wildlife management plans were developed to protect or improve habitat for selected species and assisted Commonwealth Power Company in obtaining Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) license compliance. KME recommendations included the construction of additional nesting structures for waterfowl, songbirds and birds of prey. KME also assisted Commonwealth Power Company in constructing and deploying recommended wildlife habitat structures.
